About Shaykh Muhammad bin Yahya al-Ninowy, md, phd
Muhammad bin Yahya al-Ninowy, MD, PhD is a Syrian-American researcher, theologian, and medical doctor based in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition to a PhD in Theology & Prophetic Traditions (Hadith), he also holds a bachelor's degree in Microbiology from the University of Illinois, and a Doctor of Medicine degree. He is the founding director of Madina Institute and Seminaries, the Center for Non-Violence and Peace Studies, and the charitable organizations Planet Mercy and Madina Mercy - which have centers and campuses in the USA, UK, Canada, Norway, South Africa, Malaysia, Indonesia and India.
Al-Ninowy has been a great global voice for peace, unconditional compassion, love, and the forerunner for the concept of non-violence in the past three decades, working on grassroots levels through North America, Europe, Africa and Asia. He is also leading a Rifa‘i Shadhili Sufi 'school' aiming to completely realign Sufi principles, litanies, and devotions to the Qur’an and authentic Prophetic Practices, in an effort to revive the practice of Spiritual Purification.
